Testimonials

I cannot begin to describe how Greta has changed us as parents and the foundation she set for our daughter in kindergarten. I have seen Greta in action as a teacher for many years. She was my daughter’s Kindergarten teacher. I saw her love, yes truly love, and care of each student as an individual. She knew each student’s parents’ names, their strengths, their habits, etc. Greta taught them love, skills, motivated them to be the best they can be, encouraged them to try new things, and truly changed their lives. My daughter is now 18 years old and she still has a relationship with "Ms. Callahan". She still remembers techniques that were taught by Greta. My daughter was 5 years old and was reading at a 2nd grade level, thanks to her. I wish that all students can have teachers like Greta at an early age to help them learn skills and show them that learning can be fun.

Where to I begin? My daughter had Greta as a kindergarten teacher. I was a bit worried as she was starting school as a 4 year old (her birthday is in late August) but Greta at open house made me feel very comfortable. She is so involved with her students. She always treated them as her own. My daughter learned so much from Greta, whether it be reading at a higher level or teaching her how to be a great person. Greta has always kept in touch with us over the years. My daughter is now a senior and going on to college next year. Greta was instrumental in who she is today. She is going likely going to a prestigious college and I believe with everything I am that without Greta in her life she wouldn’t be at that level. I wish everyone had the same experience early in school with great teachers like Greta, I believe we wouldn’t have the problems with our youth. Example of the kind of person Greta is, she was there for my daughter when my daughter was in 1st grade and her father and I were going through a divorce. She helped her through that difficult time (even though she wasn’t her teacher anymore). I am not an elegant writer but Greta is the best. I always compare each teacher each year to her. We need Greta to be on the school board to help our teachers and youth be the best they can be to make our future leaders the best they can be. With Greta’s leadership it can only get better!

Ms. Callahan was my kindergarten teacher, and by far is the only teacher that has ever made such an impact on me. It's hard for a 4 year old to remember much, but I never forgot Ms. Callahan’s warmth, kindness and her genuine recognition for my abilities and intelligence. Her care for each and every student and her attention to their individual needs helped to shape mine and every other student's childhood. Ms. Callahan's drive to help every student succeed in their personal and academic lives is one that I have yet to see in any other teacher. To this day, my bond with her is one I have never had with any of my teachers, and I'm graduating high school this year. Ms. Callahan is a role model as not only an amazing teacher but an amazing human being. I am so happy that she is running for school board because it provides her with another opportunity to impact lives in the way she impacted mine.

I’ve worked with Greta Callahan in a classroom together for 5 years. I truly believe that she is a wonderful, smart, loving, caring, kind, and passionate teacher. Greta doesn’t ever need to “talk the talk” because she walks the walk. She has nothing to prove when it comes to equity, centering students who have historically been disenfranchised, decentering whiteness, and anti-racism. She is secure in her journey, has done the work, and it shows in her actions.

Greta is also a strong and devoted leader in our union and has always encouraged me to be a leader. She is fair, and always puts our students first. She is knowledgeable, a great leader, and is dedicated and eager to help others. I fully support her for school board!
